The Perfect Morning Shake

I’ve recently reunited with my Magic Bullet blender and have been enjoying some incredibly simple and delicious shakes lately.  After whipping up my breakfast this morning (in about 4 seconds), I figured I’d share with you this simple version of the day’s best meal.

Short background…My wife and I tried a detox diet about a month ago and one of the many, many benefits from our brief stint in detox-land was the great recipes that we learned and still use.  We’re back to our normal healthy eating lifestyle now – no more detox but very limited junk too.  My wife found this particular detox diet on Gweneth Paltrow’s newsletter GOOP and we adapted it for a brief 4 days of detox living.  Check out the link (non-affiliate) for a pretty comprehensive rundown on the benefits of and philosophies behind her detox diet.

For the breakfast shakes, we dusted off the Magic Bullet that was lying idle in our cabinet for a couple of years, bought some ingredients, and started our new morning routine.  This is the perfect breakfast for home and when you’re on the go.  It’s especially handy for people who don’t like to eat breakfast because it goes down smoothly and doesn’t fill you up too much.

Use a Bullet (or any other blender), fill half the container with almond milk, add a scoop of whey protein, a scoop of Pro Greens powder (or similar), and a handful of fresh or frozen berries (or any fruit).  Blend.  Drink.

It’s really that simple.  The best part is you can mix it up with different fruits or veggies, add some peanut butter, honey, or whatever you enjoy.
